A friend of mine recommended Aimée Tom as a midwife. When I made our initial appointment, she let me know she was working with Jasmine, and that I would alternate seeing the two of them. I feel incredibly lucky to have been cared for by these two amazing people. I felt like I was in excellent hands throughout my prenatal care, labor and delivery, as well as post partum care. I am a queer person, and felt like both Aimée and Jasmine provided me with care that was culturally competent well beyond what I have ever experienced in the Bay Area. They used inclusive language, and advocated on my behalf with nurses on points related to gender.
Jasmine was a powerful advocate, both in informing me about different options, and speaking up on my behalf. She made me feel like I was her only client, and that she was willing to drop everything if I needed her.
After my prenatal appointments with Jasmine, I felt like I made informed decisions about my care, and that if anything went wrong, or if anyone didn't listen to me, Jasmine would walk through fire to make sure I felt heard and supported. I had a few panicked phone calls with her, and always hung up with a big sigh of relief.
I had a beautiful birth experience, and credit Aimée and Jasmine for it. My postpartum period felt difficult, but Jasmine put me completely at ease talking about the kinds of things you don't want to be discussing with anyone. She also gave me some advice that radically improved my quality of life.
Aimée was the one who was there for my labor, but even in the middle of it all, I was so happy when Jasmine came just in time for the delivery!
I'm not sure how to express just how amazing Aimée and Jasmine are, but I feel thankful and lucky that my baby's first sight was their loving faces.
